SET FREE TO BE– We live in freedom by knowing who we are in Christ.

HOW DO WE GROW IN BOLDNESS?

 

  1. SPEND MORE TIMEWITH JESUS.

Who was God using? Ordinary—Regular—Unschooled people. Who does God most often use? People who have been with Jesus!

 

  1. ASK GOD TO MAKE YOU BOLD.

 

And now, O Lord, hear their threats, and give us, your servants, great boldness in preaching your word. Acts 4:29

 

When you DENY yourself, you’re NOT LIVING for TODAY. You’re LIVING for ETERNITY.

 

… “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9

 

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the old heaven and the old earth had disappeared …I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, “Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them. WHEN YOU ARE IN THE VALLEY

  • REMEMBER (Goodness of God)
  • God came from Teman, the Holy One from Mount Paran. His glory covered the heavens and his praise filled the earth. Habakkuk 3:3

    His splendor was like the sunrise; rays flashed from his hand, where his power was hidden. Plague went before him; pestilence followed his steps. He stood, and shook the earth; he looked, and made the nations trembleHabakkuk 3:4-6

    2)   EMBRACE.

     

    My God still on the throne. My God has always been good. My God has always been faithful.    I. Still.Trust. In. My. God!

    We may enjoy God on the mountaintops. But we learn to TRUST Him in the valleys.

    HOPE IN THE DARK – WHERE ARE YOU, GOD? 

    WHY DOESN’T GOD SEEM FAIR?

     

    How long, Lord, must I call for help, but you do not listen? Or cry out to you, “Violence!” but you do not save? Why do you make me look at injustice? Why do you tolerate wrongdoing? … Habakkuk 1:2-3

    Don’t DENY your doubts, let your doubts DRIVE you to God.

    Habakkuk: to embraceor to wrestle.

     

    Why do you make me look at injustice? Why do you tolerate wrongdoing? Destruction and violence are before me; there is strife, and conflict abounds. Therefore the law is paralyzed, and justice never prevails …

    HABAKKUK’S PROBLEMS WITH GOD

    • You don’t seem to really care
    • You aren’t doing much when you could.
    • What you are doing, doesn’t seem fair.

     

    GOD’S RESPONSE

    “Look at the nations and watch—and be utterly amazed. For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told.”Habakkuk 1:5

    “I am raising up the Babylonians, thatruthless and impetuous people, who sweep across the whole earth to seize dwellings not their own. They are a feared and dreaded people9they all come intent on violence…” Habakkuk 1:6-7, 9

    A committed believer can both WRESTLEwith honest questions and EMBRACEa genuine faith in God.

     

    Lord, are you not from everlasting? My God, my Holy One, you will never die. You, Lord, have appointed them to execute judgment; you, my Rock, have ordained them to punish. 13 Your eyes are too pure to look on evil; you cannot tolerate wrongdoing. Why then do you tolerate the treacherous? Why are you silent while the wicked swallow up those more righteous than themselves? Habakkuk1:12-13

    What if honestly acknowledging your doubts is your first step toward building a deeper faith?

    If it’s WORTH IT for Jesus, it’s WORTH IT for us.

    GOD LOVES US, WE BLEW IT, CHRIST PAID FOR IT, WE MUST RECEIVE HIM

    GOD LOVES US

    We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them. – 1 John 4:16 NLT

    WE BLEW IT

    For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. – Romans 6:23 NLT

    CHRIST PAID FOR IT

    Christ suffered for our sins once for all time. He never sinned, but he died for sinners to bring you safely home to God. He suffered physical death, but he was raised to life in the Spirit. – 1 Peter 3:18 NLT

    WE MUST RECEIVE HIM

    But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. – John 1:12 NLT

    We must receive Jesus to be our FORGIVER and LEADER. The RESULT is immediate SPIRITUAL TRANSFORMATION.

    BELIEVE + RECEIVE = BECOME

    BELIEVE: It is important to BELIEVE the right things.

    You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror. – James 2:19 NLT

    RECEIVE: It’s not enough to just believe these things

    We need to act on what we BELIEVE and RECEIVE the forgiveness, life, and RECKLESS LOVE that Jesus offers.

    When we sincerely BELIEVE in and RECEIVE Jesus’ FORGIVENESS & LEADERSHIP, we are FORGIVEN and BECOME his adopted son or daughter.

    RELIGION says D-O, Jesus says D-O-N-E

    We couldn’t earn it, We don’t deserve it, still, He gave Himself away.

    That’s the OVERWHELMING, NEVER-ENDING, RECKLESS LOVE of God!

    CAMPFIRE STORIES | SALT & LIGHT

    WHEN YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE, YOU’LL KNOW WHAT TO DO.

    It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 32 I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. Luke 5:31b-32

    Know who you are—know what to do!

    YOU ARE THE SALT OF THE EARTH AND THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD.

    13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men. Matt 5:13

    WHAT DOES SALT DO?

    • SALT PRESERVES. (Eternal life)
    • SALT PURIFIES. (Impure world—agent of purification)
    • SALT CREATES THIRST. (I want what you have)
    • SALT MELTS. (Heart is hard—melt it with the love of X)
    • SALT HEALS. (Hurt by people/religion—healed by X)

    14 “You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. Matt 5:14-16

    I am—salt of the earth—light of the world.

    I am a Christ empowered influencer. My life will make a difference.

    LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE.

    25 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. Acts 16:25

    26 Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everybody’s chains came loose. 27 The jailer woke up, and when he saw the prison doors open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself because he thought the prisoners had escaped. 28 But Paul shouted, “Don’t harm yourself! We are all here!” Acts 16:26-28

    YOUR SALT AND LIGHT LIVING CHANGES LIVES.

    29 The jailer called for lights, rushed in and fell trembling before Paul and Silas. 30 He then brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” 31 They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved — you and your household.” Acts 16:29-31

    32 Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house. 33 At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all his family were baptized. 34 The jailer brought them into his house and set a meal before them; he was filled with joy because he had come to believe in God — he and his whole family. Acts 16:32-34

    FOUND people, FIND people.

    CAMPFIRE STORIES | WORTH THE COST

     

    44 “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure that a man discovered hidden in a field. In his excitement, he hid it again and sold everything he owned to get enough money to buy the field.

    45 “Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant on the lookout for choice pearls. 

    46 When he discovered a pearl of great value, he sold everything he owned and bought it!Matthew 13:44-46

     

    There is a COST when it comes to SERVING Jesus

     

    HOW MUCH?

     

    And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. Luke 9:23

    Nothing WORTH HAVING comes easy

    We need to AGREE to His TERMS

    But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Matthew 6:33

    We can’t LIVEfor the WORLD and JESUS at the same time

    No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money. Matthew 6:24

     

    3 STEPS TO TAKE IN COUNTING THE COST

    • TURN WHENINTO NOW.

     

    (stop making excuses)

     

    Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth. Proverbs 27:1

    • TURN INTENTIONSINTO ACTIONS.

     

    (plans are great, but mean nothing if you don’t do something with them)

     

    Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn’t do it, sins. James 4:17

    • TURN YOUR WHOLE HEARTTOWARD JESUS.

     

    (don’t hold anything, I mean anything! From him)

     

    When Jesus saw that he had answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” Mark 12:34

    When HEAVEN is your audience, you LIVE differently

    Our problems are different, our attitude is different, our hope, joy, peace, everything is different!

    The COST of LIVING a LIFE for Jesus is WORTH IT!

    25 On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

    27 He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”

    36 “Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?”

    Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.”

    Who is our NEIGHBOR?

     

    People DON’T CARE about how much you KNOW until they KNOW how much you CARE.

     

    SERVE ALL, LOVE ALL (our value)

    We use our gifts to serve others with the love of Jesus.

     

    Our WORLD desperately NEEDS us to BE THE CHURCH. Don’t EXPECT someone else to do what GOD is CALLING you to BE.

    Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples. John 13:35

    We want to be KNOWN for what we GIVE to others, not from what we TAKE

    The ONLY WAY you can SERVE God is by SERVING other people

     

    How are you SERVING today?



    CAMPFIRE STORIES – WEEK 2 NOTES

    CAMPFIRE STORIES | the SEED is on schedule

    He also said, “This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground. 27 Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how. 28 All by itself the soil produces grain—first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head. 29 As soon as the grain is ripe, he puts the sickle to it, because the harvest has come.” Mark 4:26-29

    You have no idea what God may produce through a single seed planted in faith

    You can’t harvest if you haven’t planted!

    God will bless you SOMEHOW SOMEWAY

    Everything is on schedule, our challenge is to synchronize our faith with God’s schedule

    CAN THE SEED SURVIVE THE SOIL?

    Never measure God’s UNLIMITED POWER by your LIMITED EXPECTATIONS

    God is responsible for growing the seed in your life. But what part do you play in this process?

    Our FAITH, when tended properly, turns into a HARVEST in our lives.

    Talk about a time you put a lot of time and energy into something that you didn’t see grow as quickly as you wanted, if at all. What did God teach you through that experience that you can use in your current situation?

    YOU ARE STILL ON SCHEDULE!

    When a seed is in the soil, it has an outside shell that protects what’s growing on the inside until it is time for it to flourish. Has God ever protected your faith by not giving you something you prayed for because you may not have been ready to receive it?

    Which are you more likely to do—keep digging when you have already done all you can do? Or try to harvest something too soon? that can you do to be prepared when the harvest you’re believing God for is ready?

    When you did all you can, get some sleep, trust the soil

    Your impatience is your greatest enemy and strength.

    Let it sleep, take a break, the seed is growing and working

    It takes faith to believe the purpose when the process is invisible.

    God neither sleeps nor slumbers. If He’s not sleeping, He’s looking out for you and if you’ve done all that you can do, then all that is left for you to do is to rest. Yet we often rely our won strength instead of God’s full strength to complete the work He has called us to do. We allow worry, fear, and anxiety to fill our hearts and our minds when we’re working towards a purpose, but the process is invisible.



    CAMPFIRE STORIES – WEEK 1 NOTES

    CAMPFIRE STORIES | proper foundations are necessary

     

    “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. 26 And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.27 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.” Matthew 7:24-27

    Proper FOUNDATIONS are necessary

    We are God-designed need in people for REFUGE

    Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me, for in you my soul takes refuge; in the shadow of your wings I will take refuge, till the storms of destruction pass by. – Psalm 57:1

    You will look for a FOUNDATION somewhere

    Either you are PLANTED on the rock or the sand

    For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 3:11

    What is exposed in your heart when a storm or trial (suffering) comes?

    He uses storms to reveal our deep need for Him and where we have planted our hopes. So rather than weathering the storm, would not it be better to prayerfully consider what is being revealed because of the storm?

    When our “house” is PLANTED on the ROCK it is steady and solid, unshaken by circumstances of the STORM



    FULLY DEVOTED – WEEK 3 NOTES

    FULLY DEVOTED – IS IT WORTH THE FIGHT

    Next to him was Eleazar son of Dodai the Ahohite. As one of the three mighty warriors, he was with David when they taunted the Philistines gathered at Pas Dammim for battle. Then the Israelites retreated, 10 but Eleazar stood his ground and struck down the Philistines till his hand grew tired and froze to the sword. The Lord brought about a great victory that day. 2 Samuel 23:9-10

    IS IT WORTH THE FIGHT?

    Being born a male is by chance, being a MAN is a choice

     

    Failing to LEAD is failing to ACT like a MAN

     

    Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong. And do everything with love. – 1 Corinthians 16:13-14

    BE WATCHFUL (On Guard)

    Keep your HEAD UP, FILTER what is going in and out of your house.

    (TV, music, friends, social media)

    Who is speaking into the lives of the ones around you?

    STAND FIRM IN THE FAITH, BE STRONG (COURAGEOUS)

    Don’t GIVE UP! Don’t LOOK BACK… HOLD ONTO THE SWORD

    Be the LEADER in your family (Pastor, Pursuer, Provider, Protector)

    Let ALL YOU DO be done in LOVE

    Discipline without RELATIONSHIP leads to REBELLION

    Your family doesn’t need the nicest things or the biggest house, they NEED YOU!

    HUG your KIDS, LOVE on your WIFE… LOVE ON YOUR WIFE IN FRONT OF YOUR KIDS!

     

    There are a lot of “boys” pretending to be a man, but God has called us to stop pretending and start LEADING the way He created us to be

     

    IS IT WORTH THE FIGHT?

     

    YES, it is! HOLD onto the sword, don’t let go!

     

    BE ON GUARD, STAND YOUR GROUND, BE STRONG, AND LET ALL YOU DO BE DONE IN LOVE!
