CAMPFIRE STORIES – WEEK 1 NOTES

CAMPFIRE STORIES | proper foundations are necessary

“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. 26 And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.27 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.” Matthew 7:24-27

Proper FOUNDATIONS are necessary

We are God-designed need in people for REFUGE

Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me, for in you my soul takes refuge; in the shadow of your wings I will take refuge, till the storms of destruction pass by. – Psalm 57:1

You will look for a FOUNDATION somewhere

Either you are PLANTED on the rock or the sand

For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 3:11

What is exposed in your heart when a storm or trial (suffering) comes?

He uses storms to reveal our deep need for Him and where we have planted our hopes. So rather than weathering the storm, would not it be better to prayerfully consider what is being revealed because of the storm?

When our “house” is PLANTED on the ROCK it is steady and solid, unshaken by circumstances of the STORM
